candles near the sight. he was along time friend of the young woman who died. >> she was a good person. she was always supportive. and just doesn't seem right. >> new year's day you think we're going to, you know, start off a good new year and you know, get together now, the family to cook and eat. not happening. >> the news devastated the family. most of her relatives found out this morning, new year's day, that the 19-year-old died last night. she was hit by a pickup truck crossing paseo padre parkway carrying her baby in her arms. the 3-month-old child was struck and rushed to childrens hospital in critical condition. her 17-year-old sister crossing the street with them suffered nonlife threatening injuries. it

happened before 10:00 last night the two sisters and baby were in a car stopped near intersection of paseo padre. the lieutenant explains what happened next. >> there was an argument inside of the vehicle they're traveling in. there were several parties inside of the car. as a result the two young ladies exited that car. we don't believe they were arguing with each other. >> the two sisters with the baby walked on to the parkway, hit by the truck in the middle of the street. >> she was excited to be a mom. so many good things were coming her way. so much change for the good. for the good. and then this, had to happen. >> police say the driver stoped and was cooperating with police. they say there is no evidence of that he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. vic lee, abc7 news. >> and we're learning tonight the driver in a deadly accident

in san francisco mai abe driver with the popular ride service uber. the driver killed a 6-year-old sophia lu. a woman was injured in the tender loin district. abc7 news joins us from polk and ellis street with details. >> this is where the 6-year-old was hit. and involve it did not involve uber system. we assume they mean there was not a passenger on board. police sate person identified himself as a uber driefrment the accident killed a 6-year-old and injured

her mother and her 4-year-old brother. the mother and two children were in the crosswalk. >> sometimes people aren't paying attention. we have to be diligent. >> the driver was arrested. one of three san francisco pedestrian related accidents in a day. in the morning a woman was struck by two cars and also in the tender loin district. police say all of these accidents were caused by distracted drivers. nicole snyder with walk sf. >> you have speeding cars, big wide intersections and people moving, people turning. right, left that, can be dangerous. >> the number of pedestrian injuries and deaths has gone up over the years. according to the

brain dead last month. relatives of the 13-year-old expressing new optimism tonight they're close to moving her to a facility away from children's hospital, oakland. we're expecting an update from the family but now they say they're focusing on being with her and working phones moving closer to having her transferred from this hospital a quest proving to be difficult. >> as soon as they're ready to receive her, we will be moving jahi her family tells us they're optimistic they'll have her moved, and soon. with or without procedures they thought they needed to facilitate that transfer. >> that is a huge road block we're going to try to go around that and move her without it.

and finding a physician nearby that will be willing to perform the procedure, >> it appears brain injury facility in new york remains a possibility. it's unclear if it has in patient capabilities. new beginnings community center has ties to terry schiavo life and hope network started by schiavo's family after a prolonged legal battle to keep the brain damaged schiavo on life support. jahi's family says their efforts to move the brain dead teen are being thwarted by the hospital. with refusals to insert a nutritional tube in the 13-year-old >> before mr dolan created a fiction. a sad one. this young lady is deceased. there is unfortunately, nothing this hospital or any facility any legitimate facility can do for her. >> reporter: her family says they have a physician,

transportation and a facility that will accept the girl on a vent later. childrens hospital maintains they have yet to hear from any of them. >> and turning to other news of the day, bay area water supplies are running low. 2013 were the driest year since record keeping began. over five and a half inches of rain fell last year, that is well below average. and not likely to improve soon. >> we're looking at moving forward is a possibility of below average precipitation. that is the focus predicting out. >> the first snow survey is friday indicating snow pack is only 0% of normal and most watt yefr comes from that sierra snow pack. >> so how far are we?
